Early Years & Curriculum
From September 2008, all childcare providers are required to work within the Government framework for learning, development and care - The Early Years Foundation Stage. The new framework is not about introducing a curriculum or pushing children to read or write before they are ready. The aim is to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to learn through high quality play to the best of their ability. The EYPS is based around 4 themes.
- A Unique Child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environments
- Learning and Development
We deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum in a number of ways, through:
- Construction and small world play
- Large & fine motor skills and experiences
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Role play and imaginative opportunities
- Water, sand and malleable experiences
- Stories and Creative workshops
- Outdoor opportunities
- Exploring and investigating science and nature
- Dance, music and sensory experiences
- Painting and Drawing
